LED Lighting Technology Helps Organizations Cut Costs and Create a More Sustainable Future

Electro-Matic Visual provides energy-saving LED lighting products for a wide variety of applications – indoors and out.

SunSource is known for helping companies optimize operations, whether that is on the factory floor or a West Texas wind farm. One of our operating companies, Electro-Matic Visual, is helping organizations leverage the latest LED lighting technology to reduce ongoing energy demand and operational costs. From data centers, schools and shopping malls to airports, industrial warehouses and zoos, we design and install energy-efficient LED lighting systems that can reduce energy consumption by 75 percent over incandescent lighting.

1 LED lighting offers significant advantages over conventional high-intensity discharge (HID) bulbs or traditional lighting fixtures. In fact, research shows that by 2027, widespread use of LEDs could reduce our nation’s electricity usage equal to the annual electrical output of 44 large electric power plants, and lead to total savings of more than $30 billion. 2 The technology is highly efficient, with solid-state components that last 25 times longer than incandescent bulbs and require little maintenance. 3 LEDs can also reduce light pollution through precise, optoelectronic lenses that allow the light to be directed precisely where it is needed. Plus, facilities integrating LED lighting with motion detectors, daylight sensors and programmed timers can generate maximum energy savings and ROI.

In 2024, our ISO 9001-registered Electro-Matic Visual business helped customers reduce energy consumption by 7,590,287 kWh – the equivalent CO2e emissions from ~1,030 gasoline-powered passenger cars being driven for one year. This represents an average 72 percent savings from their previous year’s usage.

In 2022, our Electro-Matic Visual division began working with Namdar Realty Group, a New York-based commercial real estate firm specializing in large retail malls, shopping centers, offices, and medical buildings across the United States. As part of its business strategy, the firm partnered with us to improve its properties over time, making them more energy-efficient and safer for the community. We recently completed a five- phase project to convert Namdar’s old interior and exterior lighting comprised of metal halide, fluorescent, and compact fluorescent fixtures, to solid-state, U.S.-made LED systems without disrupting the day-to-day operations of the 13 properties nationwide. This new technology allows Namdar to reduce its annual electricity consumption by 71.6 percent.
